We are always looking for new ways to let them stretch their creative muscles. When they came to us with a collection of stickers and asked to create a sticker app, there was no way we could refuse.

Searching no longer returns broken or incorrect results, and creating a new item no longer causes 1Password to become unresponsive. We had some fantastic help from many of you tracking these bugs down; thank you so much.

Please enjoy the following encore presentation of our original 7. We started this week with a solid update to 1Password 7, and we decided to end the week with one as well. Turns out there were a couple more bugs that needed squashing, so we got out the tennis rackets and got to work.

We also received a number of reports of places where we could do better and for that we thank you, too. Today's update addresses the most popular bits of feedback we received: Beyond those items we also managed to squeeze in these additional changes as well: Efficiency Abounds Welcome one and all to the greatest version of 1Password for iOS we have ever shipped.

After many months of work refining new features, polishing existing ones, and generally putting everyone's favorite password manager under the microscope, we are incredibly excited to share it with you.

Face ID is an absolute game-changer for productivity and efficiency. Simply tap to launch 1Password and Face ID instantly recognizes your face and unlocks. No waiting, no delays; just instant, secure access to your private information. The first place we did so was with our new Quick Copy feature. One of the most common uses for 1Password is to copy and paste your username and password into another app when you need to log in.

With Quick Copy, 1Password knows when you've copied your username so that on your next trip back from pasting that username it puts your password on the clipboard for you automatically. If you're using 1Password for your two-factor verification codes it will copy that for you on the next return as well. Unlocking the Power Of Your Keyboard For some of us, we're never more productive than when our hands stay locked on the keyboard. Taking a cue from our big sibling on macOS, we've now brought over a bevy of beautiful keyboard shortcuts to 1Password for iOS. Searching, switching tabs, and open and filling items in the browser can now be done with the stroke of a key.

The family plan adds sharing of passwords and documents, permission controls, and account-recovery tools. This is the "old" configuration of 1Password, and it limits you to an on-device vault that you can sync with your other computers using iCloud, Dropbox, your own Wi-Fi network or a local folder. The stand-alone option lacks many newer features that are on the subscription version of 1Password — including sharing, restoring items, Travel Mode and Two-Secret Key Derivation more on those later — thus reducing the security of your account unless you're an information-security expert.

The mobile versions get day trials of Pro features, but those versions will continue to work as single-device password managers if you choose not to pay. On mobile devices, 1Password requires iOS 9 or later, and at least Android 4. In the summer of , after this review was first published, 1Password rolled out enhanced browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox that work without desktop software, essentially replicating the LastPass experience. These extensions, called 1Password X , have most of the features of the desktop applications and extend 1Password support to Chrome OS and Linux, after a fashion.

Users receive a character "Secret Key" that they can use in addition to a master password. They'd better write it down. As for the master password itself, 1Password encourages users to go with a long phrase or set of words rather than a more-traditional password. As always, make sure you remember your master password, as there is no way to recover it later. To take full advantage of the macOS application, you need to install 1Password Mini in the Finder menu bar and keep that running at all times, and also install the 1Password browser extensions.

Other password managers, such as RoboForm and LastPass, similarly install a Finder menu-bar item, but they don't require a separate step to do so. The 1Password installation process can feel a little cumbersome, but it's just a one-time inconvenience.

The next step is importing your password data. That covers the main players, but it would be nice to see a few more on the list. You can import data from some other password managers, including Keeper , KeePass , Sticky Password and True Key via a free third-party utility that 1Password recommends but does not maintain. If you import data from any other service, such as a browser password saver, you'll need to first export that data as a comma-separated values CSV file. I was able to install the Android and iOS 1Password apps quickly.

The authentication setup is unusual: You first must download the Emergency Kit from within the desktop application, then either enter your info or scan the QR code found in that document. Finally, you have to enter your master password. After this, our mobile app synced up immediately with our 1Password data. The mobile apps support biometric unlock on both iOS and Android, so you won't have to type in your master password after the first run-through.

If your device doesn't support fingerprint unlock, you can instead use the PIN option. There is no support for Windows fingerprint login. Tap Change Dropbo x. You may be prompted to disable sync to relink: In the Sync with Dropbox field, tap your account name. Tap that vault. You may prompted to approve a Dropbox connection in the Dropbox account. Tap Allow. Follow steps 1 and 2 to see if the sync is now up to date. The Sync Primary Vault with option should be set to Dropbox. Now select Dropbox again from the popup menu.
